   Itinerary
Day 1  MIAMI-LIMA, PERU.
Board your flight and arrive in Lima. Check into your hotel.
Lima, Peru. Your included city tour focuses on Lima’s rich colonial history as well as the modern city. Lima was the bastion of Spanish South America from its founding in 1535 until the independence of the South American republics in the early 19th century. Visits include the CATHEDRAL, where the skeleton of Francisco Pizarro is sealed in a wooden coffin; the SAN FRANCISCO MONASTERY with its eerie burial crypts; and CASA ALIAGA, a 16th-century mansion that has been continually inhabited by the same family for almost five centuries and boasts a priceless collection of Spanish colonial paintings. (BB)

Day 2  LIMA.
Enjoy city sightseeing.

Day 3  LIMA-CUZCO.
Fly to Cuzco and enjoy an afternoon city tour.
Cuzco, Peru. Cuzco is nestled high in the Andes. Your city tour visits the SANTO DOMINGO MONASTERY, built on the foundations of the Inca Temple of the Sun, the CATHEDRAL and the nearby TEMPLE OF SACSAYHUAMAN, "House of the Sun." A short drive into the Urubamba Valley leads to the market town of Pisac. Handmade rugs, alpaca sweaters, and jewelry can be bought here at bargain prices. At the other end of the valley is Ollantaytambo. Here some of the finest examples of Inca masonry can be seen. Maybe sample local cuisine at one of Cuzco's numerous restaurants. (BB daily, L day 4)

Day 4  CUZCO.
Excursion to Pisac and Ollantaytambo.

Day 5  CUZCO-MACHU PICCHU.
Explore Machu Picchu.
Machu Picchu-Cuzco, Peru. Board the autorail car bound for MACHU PICCHU and cut a path through the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Explore this intact fortress with its temple remains, holy houses and mile-long aqueduct. For the hikers, a brisk one-hour walk leads to the Sun Gate, the ancient entrance used by the Incas. Hike Huayna Picchu or simply relax in the hotel. When you return to Cuzco, there's still time to enjoy the culture and history of this city. Maybe visit the Inca Museum or wander through the artisan district of San Blas. (BB daily, L, D day 5)

Day 6  MACHU PICCHU-CUZCO.
In the afternoon return to Cuzco with time to explore.

Day 7  CUZCO-LIMA-DEPARTURE FOR U.S.
Fly back to Lima this morning. Hotel rooms are available until your evening departure for the US.
Lima, Peru. Spend the day relaxing, shopping or taking in some last-minute sightseeing. Founded in 1535, the "City of Kings" was once the capital of the Spanish South American Empire so there is history on almost every corner. Explore the vast Plaza de Armas to view first hand Lima's colonial heritage. Visit the opulent Gold Museum with its magnificent collection of gold and fascinating artifacts from around the world, including a child's poncho made entirely of yellow feathers and a skull with a full set of pink quartz teeth. Or stroll along the fashionable boulevards of Miraflores and relax in one of its many sidewalk cafes. (BB)

Day 8  ARRIVAL IN US.
An early morning arrival allows for ongoing connections to your hometown.
