Outside Naas learn about the upscale horsebreeding industry at the National Stud and see some fine horses. Take a walk through the Japanese Gardens, which were laid out in 1906 to represent the “Life of Man.” Arrive in Kilkenny around midday to check into your hotel, located in the center of this fascinating town. The afternoon is free so you may visit the 12th century Black Abbey, Kyteler’s Inn, or Kilkenny Castle. Get together with your fellow travelers for a welcome drink before dinner. (B, D)
Day 4 - Wed: Waterford Crystal & Cobh Heritage Centre Drive to Waterford to tour the famous Waterford Crystal Factory and watch skilled craftspeople creating elegant masterpieces. Travel to Leenane to embark on a short cruise of Killary Harbour aboard the “Connemara Lady.” Glide along the 9-mile fjord to see unspoiled views that are not accessible by road. You can observe isolated ruins and traces of pre-Famine potato fields on the hillsides. Drive to Cong, famous for the making of the 1952 movie, “The Quiet Man.” A walking tour will reveal places used as locations. Return through Headford to Galway. (B, D)
