Day 1 - Sun: Depart U.S. for Dublin
Take an overnight flight across the Atlantic to Ireland.
Day 2 - Mon: Dublin & Doyle’s Cabaret
Land at Dublin Airport and go to the CIE Tours desk to arrange a group transfer to your hotel between 7:00 am and 12:00 noon. If you arrive later than noon, you will need to transfer to the hotel at your own expense. The balance of the day is at leisure. In the evening meet your group and tour director over a welcome drink and drive to Doyle’s Cabaret for a lively dinner show with traditional song and dance. (D)
Day 3 - Tue: Dublin Sightseeing
A tour of Dublin will show you the highlights, including government buildings, public parks and stately Georgian townhouses. Visit Dublin Castle to see the richly
decorated State Apartments and Trinity College to view the illuminated gospel manuscript of the Book of Kells. The afternoon and evening are free for independent activities. (B)
Day 4 - Wed: Glendalough & Waterford
Travel south to visit Glendalough Visitor Centre to learn about St. Kevin’s 6th century monastery, located in a valley in the Wicklow Mountains. See the ancient round tower, church ruins and Celtic crosses. In New Ross visit the Dunbrody Emigrant Ship, a replica of a 19th century sailing ship which carried emigrants to America. Take a brief walk around the center of Waterford with a local guide who will fill you in on local history. (B, D)
Day 5 - Thu: Cobh Heritage & Blarney Castle
Tour the Waterford Crystal Factory to see all stages of crystal production and a display of special trophies and tableware in the showrooms. Travel to Cobh Heritage Centre, which traces the history of emigration from Ireland to the United States. On the other side of Cork, visit Blarney Castle to kiss the famous “Stone of Eloquence” before continuing your drive to Killarney. (B, D)
Day 6 - Fri: Ring of Kerry Tour
Today drive around the Ring of Kerry, a popular scenic route around the mountains and Atlantic coastline. Cross to Valencia Island by bridge and visit the Skellig Experience to learn how early Christian monks lived on the offshore islands. Drive through Sneem and pause at Moll’s Gap to view the lakes and mountains before returning to Killarney. (B, D)
Day 7 - Sat: Cliffs of Moher & Bunratty
Travel to Tarbert and cross the River Shannon by ferry. Drive via Lahinch to view the Cliffs of Moher, limestone cliffs that drop 700 feet to the open Atlantic Ocean. Drive through the town of Ennis to your hotel, located between Bunratty and the city of Limerick. This evening a medieval-style meal and entertainment at 15th century Bunratty Castle will be a fitting end to your vacation. (B, D)
Day 8 - Sun: Depart for Home
Take a group transfer to Shannon Airport where your tour concludes at 10:00am. Then you may do some last minute shopping before clearing U.S. Immigration and boarding your aircraft for the journey back to the United States. (B) |
