   Itinerary
Day 1 (Sat.)
Board your flight to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Upon arrival you are transferred to your beachfront hotel. This evening enjoy a welcome cocktail reception and meet your traveling companions. (R)

Day 2 Cabo San Lucas-Todos Santos-Loreto. (Sun.)
This morning head to Loreto where you’ll enjoy views of the Pacific Ocean and have an opportunity to see one of the most popular beaches along the Pacific—Playa Las Palmas. En route enjoy a visit to Todos Santos, known as a quaint, tranquil, palm-fringed oasis brimming with creative souls. This gentle sanctuary has captivated many with its peaceful, laid-back flavor. Among the green areas and old historical buildings Todos Santos also has a taste for culture and art. Visit THE MISSION OF TODOS SANTOS, founded in 1724. You’ll see the famous “Hotel California.” Urban legend says this was the inspiration for the Eagle’s hit song by the same name. This small Mexican town was also known as the “Capital of Sugar” and a large producer of citrus. We’ll visit one of the regional candy stores prior to departure from this quaint town and then it’s off to Loreto, which in the indigenous language means “red mangrove,” the oldest town in Baja. The coastline in and around Loreto is one of the richest and most varied ecosystems in Baja. You will find the towering Sierra La Giganta Mountains, reefs, caverns, bays, a multitude of islands, and coves—all influencing and being influenced by the climate of Loreto. (B)

Day 3 Loreto. Excursion to Coronado Island. (Mon.)
Today start with a guided visit to the MISSION OF OUR LADY OF LORETO and the MUSEUM OF THE MISSIONS history in Baja. You’ll see both the original Indian traditions, costumes and artifacts and the art brought by the missionaries from Europe, Asia and the Mexican mainland. Afterwards set off for a trip to CORONADO ISLAND, one of several islands that create the Islas de Golfo group, which is protected as a National Maritime Park. This volcanic island with a white, sandy beach provides refuge for mother of pearl, starfish, sea urchins, fan coral, killer whales, blue whales, dolphins and sea lions. (B,L)

Day 4 Loreto-La Paz. (Tue.)
La Paz, the capital of the state of Baja California Sur, was founded in 1535 by Hernán Cortés and became the capital after a hurricane destroyed the town of Loreto. This affable town, a political maverick and never tapped by the government for major resort development, is still a refuge for travelers seeking an offbeat combination of desert and ocean, calm and culture. An included sightseeing tour visits THE WEAVER BLANKETS FACTORY, POTTERY FACTORY, and THE MUSEUM OF ANTHROPOLOGY AND HISTORY OF BAJA CALIFORNIA BIG SUR, which contains exhibits of the peninsula's geology, geography, plants and animals, as well as dioramas of Indian life and Mexican cave paintings. Visit the OLD MISSION NUESTRA SENORA DEL PILAR. Time for shopping and then enjoy a delicious Mexican meal in a local restaurant. The balance of your day is at leisure. (B,L)

Day 5 La Paz-El Triunfo-San Bartolo-San Jose del Cabo-Cabo San Lucas. (Wed.)
From La Paz, travel to El Triunfo. Over a hundred years after silver was discovered in the southern Baja Mountains at San Antonio, silver and gold were discovered in a nearby mountain area, soon to be called El Triunfo (“The Triumph”). Many of the miners who missed out on the California gold rush of 1849 came to El Triunfo for a second chance at striking it rich. By 1865 this once sleepy cattle ranch became a boom town of approximately ten thousand souls. At the time, it was the largest settlement in southern Baja. After approximately 60 years of mining, El Triunfo finally closed its operation in 1926. Today it is difficult to picture this quaint collection of brick buildings as anything more than just another quiet Baja village. Returning to Cabo San Lucas, travel through San Bartolo and visit a regional candy store. Heading further south stop in Buena Vista to admire the spectacular view of the California Gulf. Next a stop in San Jose del Cabo. The city is full of nice shops, good restaurants and cafés, and some quality art galleries that stock local artists' works. Visit an estuary, where hundreds of birds arrive to winter every year; and CACTI MUNDO BONTANICAL GARDENS, where you have the opportunity to see local cacti species. Late afternoon arrival in Cabo San Lucas, where you are free to enjoy the facilities of your hotel. (B)

Day 6 Cabo San Lucas. (Thu.)
Cabo San Lucas is where the sea, sun and desert join to cast an air of mystery and romance over all who visit. Today enjoy a visit to a LOCAL HANDCRAFTS WORKSHOP and the GLASSWORKS FACTORY, home of the famous “Baja Blue Rim Glassware.” Then travel out by glass bottom boat, viewing the varied marine life and tropical fish, to see the world famous ARCHES, including the stone arch, pelican rock and a colony of sea lions. Then enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. The remainder of your day is free. (B,L)

Day 7 Cabo San Lucas. (Fri.)
A full day at leisure to continue exploring Cabo San Lucas. There are many water activities available to you, as well as shopping, sunning on the beach or enjoying a round of golf at one of Cabo’s five championship courses. On your last night your Tour Director hosts a Farewell Dinner to celebrate your Baja Adventure. (B,D).

Day 8 Cabo San Lucas. (Sat.)
Your homebound flight arrives the same day. (B)
