   Itinerary
Day 1  SAN FRANCISCO.
Board your transpacific flight.

Day 2  En route.

Cross the International Date Line.

Day 3  HANOI, VIETNAM.

Meet your local host for a meeting and city sightseeing.
Hanoi, Vietnam. Hanoi is Vietnam's gracious capital and one of South East Asia’s more beautiful and engaging cities. Your included sightseeing of this city focuses on the life of Ho Chi Minh—without question one of the great figures of twentieth century history and the father of modern Vietnam. You'll start with a visit to the Ho Chi Minh MAUSOLEUM—set in Ba Dinh Square where Ho Chi Minh first declared independence from French rule in 1945. Then visit the humble house on stilts from which "Uncle Ho," as he is affectionately known, ruled Vietnam until his death in 1969. Continue on to the intriguing Ho Chi Minh MUSEUM, an amazingly surreal exhibition of the life of Ho Chi Minh, set in the context of major events of the twentieth century and Vietnam's struggle for independence. Also view the Presidential Palace and the ONE PILLAR PAGODA. Conclude your tour by visiting Hanoi's first university—the TEMPLE OF LITERATURE—dating back to 1070. This historic center of learning is now dedicated to Confucian worship. Enjoy free time for shopping or further exploration of Hanoi, or you may wish to take an optional day tour to spectacular Ha Long Bay. (B daily)

Day 4 - 5  HANOI.

Two days at leisure.

Day 6  HANOI- SAIGON.

Today fly to Saigon.
Saigon. Saigon is Vietnam's commercial capital and a city of extraordinary energy. Nowhere is Vietnam's rush to modernize more visible. Despite its rush to modernity, it is a friendly and welcoming place with many reminders of its turbulent past and palpable momentum towards the future. Begin with a walking tour of famous and historic city landmarks. The tour will take you through the heart of the city along Dong Khoi Street (formerly Rue Catinat), past the Rex Hotel, Ho Chi Minh Square, Municipal Theatre and NOTRE DAME CATHEDRAL. Following a tour of the REUNIFICATION PALACE (formerly the Presidential Palace) and WAR REMNANTS MUSEUM, travel to Cholon, the Chinatown district of the city, to visit the bustling BINH TAY wholesale market and the ornate THIEN HAU PAGODA, dedicated to the Goddess of the Sea. The remainder of your stay is free to further explore this vibrant city or for further sightseeing. Optional tours include a half-day tour to the Cu Chi tunnels or a full-day trip to the Mekong Delta region, where you will visit the home of a local family, enjoy their hospitality, and share some tea or rice wine. (B daily)

Day 7
SAIGON.
Walking tour and market tour.

Day 8  SAIGON.

Full day on your own.

Day 9
SAIGON-SIEM REAP, CAMBODIA.
A quick flight to Siem Reap; meet your local host. Remainder of day is at leisure.
Siem Reap, Cambodia. The ancient Khmer Temples of Angkor Wat are noted as one of the Seven Wonders of the World and considered by many to be the most spectacular architectural ruins found on earth! The Temples of Angkor represent 600 years (802-1432) of Khmer civilization and really are one of the worlds' great wonders. You will be guided through the incredible fortified city of ANGKOR THOM. Visit the mysterious BAYON with its thousands of beautifully hand carved figures each telling a story. Arrive later at ANGKOR WAT, the largest and most awe-inspiring of all monuments in Angkor. Sunset adds another dimension to Angkor Wat and is the perfect opportunity to contemplate its enormity and grandeur. Your included sightseeing also offers a guided exploration around more of the incredible ruins of Angkor, including Ta Keo, Preah Khan, Neak Pean, TA PROHM, Sras Srang, Prasat Kravann, Chau Say Tevoda and Thommnoun. All these monuments encompass various periods of Khmer history including its beginning, classical age, and its decline. (B & D daily)

Day 10
SIEM REAP.
Guided sightseeing of the Temples of Angkor Wat.

Day 11
SIEM REAP.
Full day on your own.

Day 12
SIEM REAP-BANGKOK, THAILAND.
Fly to Bangkok.
Bangkok, Thailand. Begin your discovery of Thailand at the GRAND PALACE, the truly grand seat of the court of old Siam; and the adjoining royal temple, WAT PHRA KEO, housing the 31-inch Emerald Buddha and the RECLINING BUDDHA. Your afternoon and evening are at leisure. Perhaps pamper yourself with a traditional Thai massage. Perhaps join a full-day tour to the ancient capital of Ayutthaya. Or see the floating markets with a stop at the Rose Garden and folkloric performance. For those who would like to try something different, a cooking class at the famed Thai House is an interesting alternative. Your local host will be available to assist in making the best of your stay in Thailand. (B daily)

Day 13
BANGKOK.
City sightseeing.

Day 14  BANGKOK.

Full day on your own.

Day 15  BANGKOK-SAN FRANCISCO.
